At the end of Feb, 2020, my dad went to an engineering conference (#worldofconcrete !) & happened to remember that I was as a loyal #vikingsewingmachine user. And now, over two years later, I finally got to wear my sewing machine hat 🎉! If you buy second hand but are worried about getting moths (or other bugs) 🐞🦋 in your closet there’s a simple fix for that! Stick the item straight into the freezer for about 24-48 hours when you receive it. If the item is washable, I would also recommend washing 🧼 . Ugh 😣 so sad 😭 Old Navy has been killing it when it came to plus. Their plus assortment was thoughtful, it fit well and featured extra little details that showed how much time an effort went into those styles. (Well done #techdesign !) (For example- their plus button up shirts had extra, tiny snaps at the bust to prevent pulling and interior elastic at the armhole to keep it close to the body) Then #oldnavy decided to make everything in plus size and sit it together with regular sizing- so rather than pick styles they know their customers will love, they just did everything. I’m unsure if they continued to do thoughtful style & fit edits for the plus customer, but based on this strategy, I’m going to guess not. Now Old Navy is scaling back on plus and I’m sure other brands are watching too. I hope the message they take from this is that every customer, of every size, wants clothes that are designed and fit to THEM. Making something for a size 4 person and assuming every other size will want the same styling and fit… that’s not very inclusive! Today we celebrate the First Ladies 👩 of the USA 🇺🇸 Thanks to some key items from my mom’s closet (circa 1970s) I found myself emulating Mary Todd Lincoln on her wedding day in 1842. I honestly didn’t know much about her until today, it’s sad to realize that so many women (like Mary Todd) lived in poverty after the death of their husbands.
